ASA Epoxy Prime 2 Part – high performance two part epoxy primer-Technical Data Sheet
ASA Epoxy Prime 2 Part – high performance two part epoxy primer-Technical Data Sheet
DESCRIPTION
Epoxy Prime 2 Part is a high performance two part epoxy primer specifically
developed for use on non-porous substrates such as dense, smooth concrete,
existing tiles and ASA approved polyurethane membranes. Epoxy Prime 2 Part
provides a good bond coat prior to the application of ASA approved tile adhesives,
ASA self levelling compounds and ASA approved waterproofing membranes.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• High bond strength
• Quick drying time
• Solvent free
• Adheres well to ASA approved
polyurethane membranes
RECOMMENDED FOR
ASA approved
polyurethane membranes
Dense, smooth concrete
Existing tiles
Metal surfaces
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, wax, oil, laitance, curing compounds and all other contaminants likely
to prevent the Epoxy Prime 2 Part from bonding. Concrete should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days and cement
render for 7 days prior to application of Epoxy Prime 2 Part. ASA approved polyurethane membranes must have been
applied as per packaging directions and allowed to cure before the application of Epoxy Prime 2 Part.
MIXING
Stir both Part A and Part B of Epoxy Prime 2 Part with separate stirrers. Measure equal volumes (ratio 1:1) of Part A
and Part B and place into a clean container. Using a paint mixer and slow speed drill, mix thoroughly until a homogenous
mixture is achieved. Poor mixing will affect product performance. Do not mix more than what can be used in 1 hour at
25˚C.
APPLICATION
Apply Epoxy Prime 2 Part onto the correctly prepared surface using a brush or roller, ensuring full coverage of the
substrate. When using over ASA approved polyurethane membranes it is imperative that the membrane is cleaned
using a sugar soap solution. The membrane must then be thoroughly rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry. If full
coverage is not achieved with one coat then a second coat must be applied in a perpendicular direction to the first coat
(re-coat time is 4 hours). Epoxy Prime 2 Part must be covered within 4 days of final coat. If the Epoxy Prime 2 Part is
showing signs of contamination such as dust, paint or any other material that will compromise adhesion, then the area
must be washed thoroughly with a sugar soap solution, rinsed and allowed to dry.
TILING
Commence tiling after Epoxy Prime 2 Part has cured. It is recommended that tiling be carried out within 4 days of
Epoxy Prime 2 Part application as this eliminates the possibility of surface contamination. If tiling is carried out after
this time, ensure surface is clean and dry.
RECOMMENDED ADHESIVES
ASA Fixall mixed with undiluted ASA Megalastic, ASA Conflex and ASA Asaflex.
CLEAN UP
Tools and equipment can be cleaned with warm water and detergent prior to the Epoxy Prime 2 Part drying.
PACKAGING
20 litre, 8 litre and 4 litre kits.
POT LIFE
1 hour at 25˚C. A higher temperature will reduce pot life.
COVERAGE
1litre of Epoxy Prime 2 Part will cover approximately 8m² per coat depending on substrate porosity.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use eyewear, barrier cream and protective gloves. Use only soap and water for
cleaning hands and skin. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid breathing vapours. Keep away from children. If
swallowed do not induce vomiting. Give plenty of milk or water. Seek medical advice. For more detailed information
refer to product MSDS.

ASA MORTAFIX -synthetic latex additive to produce a high strength-Technical Data Sheet
ASA MORTAFIX -synthetic latex additive to produce a high strength-Technical Data Sheet
DESCRIPTION
A synthetic latex additive, used in conjunction with sand and cement mortars to produce
a high strength, waterproof adhesive for the bonding of all types of ceramic tiles. Ideal
for bonding monocottura and fully vitrified tiles, as well as natural stone, marble, granite
and mosaic tiles onto concrete, cement render and brickwork walls and floors. This
adhesive is also suitable for adhering tiles over existing, sound ceramic tiles. For both
internal and external applications.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
Waterproof
Economical
High compressive strength
Ideal for commercial installations
Internal and external applications
High adhesive strength
RECOMMENDED FOR
Existing tiles
Concrete
Cement render
Brickwork
Use in areas covered by AS3958.1-1991 clauses
3.3.1.1;3.3.1.2 3.3.2.1;3.3.3.1;3.3.3.2;3.3.3.3;3.3.3.4;3.5.1.1;3.
5.2.1;3.5.4.1.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be fi rm, rigid, clean, dry, sound and smooth and be free from grease, wax, oil, laitance, curing
compounds and all other contaminants likely to prevent the adhesive bonding. Smooth steel trowel fi nished
concrete must be mechanically abraided to increase adhesion. Porous surfaces should be primed with ASA
Multiprime. Concrete should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days and cement render to cure for at least 7
days prior to tiling. Existing ceramic tiles must be fi rmly adhered onto the substrate. The tiles must be thoroughly
cleaned prior to the application of the adhesive.
EXPANSION JOINTS
Movement joints must be incorporated in the tile layout in accordance with AS3958.1-1991 clauses 5.4.5.1 to 6.
MIXING
4kg of sand and cement mix requires approximately 1 litre of Mortafi x. Add the measured amount of Mortafi x into
a clean bucket. Slowly add the required quantity of sand and cement into the bucket with continuous mixing. Mix
until lump free. Once all the powder has been added, it should be allowed to stand for 2 minutes. The mix should
then be re-stirred. The adhesive is now ready for use.
APPLICATION
Apply the mixed adhesive to the prepared substrate using the appropriate notched trowel for the size of the tile
being laid. A minimum of 1mm bed thickness for walls and 3mm for fl oors must be achieved. Ensure that the
bedded tiles are fully supported by the adhesive with no voids underneath or behind. Lay tiles into the adhesive
before it skins. The adhesive may also need to be applied to the back of the tiles to accommodate the required
levels. Do not disturb tiles until the adhesive has dried.
GROUTING
Use the appropriate ASA grout, allowing joint widths of 1.5mm to 6mm for walls and 3mm to 12mm for fl oors as
per AS3958.1-1991 clause 5.4.6.
CLEAN UP
Mortafi x can be removed from the surface of the tiles using a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet. Tools and
equipment can be cleaned with warm water and detergent prior to the adhesive drying.
PACKAGING
20 litre plastic pails, 5 litre and 1 litre jerry cans.
COVERAGE
12mm x 12mm trowel approximately 6kg/m²
6mm x 6mm trowel approximately 3kg/m²
